Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, international public service organization comprising more than 350,000 predominantly African American, college-educated women. Founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., the Sorority has consistently been dedicated to addressing issues that affect the Black community, boldly confronting challenges not only for African Americans but for all people.

The North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter (NSDCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in ===== by gggggg, Myra Davis Hemmings. The Chapter is committed to making a positive impact on the local community through the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

A key focus of both the national organization and the  North San Diego County   Alumnae Chapter is empowering young women to achieve excellence through higher education. In support of this mission, NSDCAC awards $2,000 scholarships to young women who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to community service.

NSDCAC is now accepting applications for its Public Scholarship. The Chapter will award $2,000 scholarships to talented African American female students who will be graduating high school seniors in 2026.

We appreciate your interest in this scholarship opportunity, and thank you for reviewing the attached scholarship details. To apply, all interested students must submit a 500-750-word essay, meet the outlined eligibility criteria, and complete the application packet, including all required supporting documents. Applications must be postmarked or submitted via email by March 14, 2026. In addition, letters of recommendation and official transcripts must be received by the same deadline.

Participation Requirements

 (Applicants Must Meet ALL Criteria):

​​

  • African American/Black female student

  • High school senior who graduates in Spring 2025

  • Currently resides in San Antonio, Texas

  • Currently attends a San Antonio public, private, charter, or homeschool high school in the SAAC service area

  • Minimum 2.5/4.0-grade point average [or 1.5/3.00 or 75/100]

  • Shows evidence of scholastic achievement, leadership abilities, and community service

  • Plans to attend an accredited college or university beginning Fall 2025
